Congratulations Erin Costelo & Ian Janes

This past weekend the atlantic music industry descended on Saint John, NB for the 2017 edition of the East Coast Music Awards, and many attendees witnessed Erin Costelo and Ian Janes putting on fantastic shows. Erin closed the R&B stage Saturday, after receiving the award for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year! A big congratulations to Erin for her work on Down Below, The Status Quo!

Ian Janes warmed up the stage for Matt Andersen at the Big Ticket event of the ECMA and played cuts from his latest record Yes Man, mixed by yours truly (with the title track co-written by Joel Plaskett). Ian just had a review published in Rolling Stone France and received 4/5 stars!!

Both of these artists worked extremely hard on these releases and it’s great to see them get the recognition they so deserve!

Nova Scotia Music Week

What an incredible showcase of talent this weekend was! Music Nova Scotia and the City of Yarmouth did a great job putting on the event, and I can tell you first-hand that everyone enjoyed themselves! I am in awe of how many world-class acts I saw this weekend; and all from our own backyard.

We at the ‘Yard are very pleased and excited to have taken home a couple Nova Scotia Music Awards this weekend! We wear proudly the titles of Studio of the Year and Studio Engineer of the Year, and are humbled by the support we have received from friends, family, artists, and organisations. Thank you all very much! We are happy to work hard for our community. Joel also took home Producer of the Year and Entertainer of the Year!

Perhaps the best part of the weekend was seeing all our friends being recognised for their hard work! Certainly we mean everyone when we say that, but we had the great fortune to work on a number of releases that won awards this year: Mo Kenney took home 4 awards on the night, including Recording of the Year, which she shares with Gabrielle Papillon; Gypsophilia garnered 2 awards for Group Recording and Jazz Recording; Roxy & The Underground Soul Sound were winners in Urban Recording and New Artist Recording categories; and Old Man Leudecke won in the Americana/Bluegrass genre.

And most importantly, thank you all for another great year of music! Keep it comin’!
